This cedar shingled home in the northwest woods of East Hampton, New York, was featured in Metropolitan Home.
Our challenge was to design 2,200-square feet of space that felt spacious and comfortable for both residents and guests.
We divided the public spaces and private spaces and gave each of the three bedrooms its own private bath.
We designed a cupola with operable windows to draw the air up through the house. The resulting cross ventilation was so effective that the air conditioning was rarely used.
An indoor-outdoor fireplace can be used throughout the spring and fall. Its decorative stovepipes actually function as flues.
